WASTE-SEC is continuing to evolve beyond its initial development within SecureFood. Building on the established framework, GALANAKIS LABORATORIES is now advancing the tool towards broader validation, enhanced decision-support capabilities and practical application across diverse agri-food systems, including through the WISE-SEC initiative.
WISE-SEC (WISE Decision Support for Secure Agri-Food Systems, 2026) is developing a practical, AI-assisted tool that enables agri-food SMEs to combine fragmented operational and environmental data, explore “what-if” scenarios, and improve resource efficiency and decision-making. Building on the WASTE-SEC framework developed through SecureFood, WISE-SEC has been accepted for funding under the GATE5.0 Seed Phase, where its priority use cases, system concept and pathway towards pilot validation will be refined.
We have also received Letters of Intent from the University of Johannesburg and Cadi Ayyad University willing to participate and support validation of WASTE-SEC across African agri-food systems.
